Cockroach Control

German cockroaches are the ones that keep coming back after a store-bought spray, and the reason is mechanical: a contact aerosol kills what it touches and scatters the rest deeper into the wall void, cabinet frame, and motor housing of the refrigerator. Eggs are carried in a protected case, so a knockdown that looks like a win on Tuesday turns into fresh nymphs a few weeks later. A working program uses gel bait in dozens of small placements — hinge corners, the underside of the sink rim, the gap behind the stove, the seam where countertop meets backsplash — plus a growth regulator so any survivors cannot mature and reproduce. That is why we follow up rather than spray once and leave.

Attached housing changes the math. In the brick duplexes and older rowhomes near Gwynn Oak Junction and along the streets that run right up to the Baltimore City line, kitchens and bathrooms are usually back-to-back, and roaches move between units through the shared plumbing chase, not the front door. Treating one side while the other is untreated buys weeks, not months. On those addresses we treat what you control, seal the pipe penetrations and escutcheon gaps on your side, and tell you plainly what a neighbor or landlord needs to do — including the garden-apartment blocks around Milford Mill, Rockdale, and Fairbrook, where shared laundry and trash rooms act as staging areas.

Sewer roaches are a different call. Homes on the low ground near the Gwynns Falls stream valley, and basements in Lochearn, Woodmoor, Powhatan, Hernwood Heights, and around the Gwynn Oak Park grounds, get seasonal American and Oriental roach pushes out of floor drains, sump pits, and crawlspace vents — especially after heavy summer rain or when the first cold nights drive them indoors. If you are finding one or two large roaches a week in a basement or utility room and never any in the kitchen cabinets, you almost certainly do not have an infestation; you have an opening. Those jobs are mostly exclusion work: drain covers, a trap primed with water, sealed sill plate and pipe gaps, and a treated perimeter band. Honest version — a handful of large roaches in a dry basement is something a homeowner can often handle with a drain cover and caulk, and we will say so.

When a one-visit treatment fits: a light, recent, single-room sighting with a clear source, no live roaches in daylight, and no droppings behind the toe kick. When a multi-visit program fits: roaches visible with the lights on, peppery specks in cabinet corners, or an attached unit involved — that is a population, and populations need a second and third touch to break the egg cycle. The trade-off is upfront cost against repeat cost, and we would rather quote you the program once than sell you the same spray three times. Prep matters too: you clear cabinets, we do the placement work, and no contract is required to get treated.
